Crafts, theatre, opera, travel, camping
I was born in Alton, IL but grew up in Mt. Zion. As a child, my parents brought my brother and I to the Decatur Public Library every Friday evening. Spending hours in the children's section with Katie Gross, Mary Lou Dwyer and many others fostered my love of reading! After graduating from Mt. Zion High School, I attended Eastern Illinois University for 5 years and got BA's in English and Theatre. From there, I like to say I ran away to the Opera! I worked backstage in regional opera companies across the country for five years before returning to Central Illinois to go back to school! I got my MA in English from the University of Illinois Springfield and while getting that degree worked in the tutoring center as a writing tutor. After graduation I taught composition and speech at Richland for a number of years. I've also worked as a receptionist at two veterinarian offices and I was a florist for a year! I've been married to my wonderful husband, Rob for 5 years and I have a two year old son Lawton! I'm thrilled to be back at DPL as a member of the staff. I love working with our patrons and the amazing ladies in the adult section!
Remember, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
