Special Interests

When not working at my great part-time job, I enjoy spending time with our grandchildren and sons, working around our home with my husband of 45 years, traveling, shopping, eating out, and of course spending time in libraries and reading.

I am an original Decaturite; born and bred in this fine town! As far as I can remember, libraries have always been a big part of my life. I recall going to the library as a child and even worked in the old Carnegie Library in high school. At Illinois State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Library Science and a Master of Science Degree in Reading, I also worked in the Library Science Department. I spent the majority of my career with Decatur Public Schools as an elementary librarian and ended my tenure with them as their Library Media Coordinator in the spring of 2013. As per a newspaper article in the Decatur Herald and Review on the new Local History Room and their need for an assistant, I started my second career with libraries in 2016.

We all carry inside of us people who came before us.
