Winter Reading Program 2021
All your questions answered about the Winter Reading Program!
With the library closed how will Winter Reading work?
Although patrons are currently not able to enter the library building due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Decatur Public Library staff has been working hard to make sure everyone can still participate in Winter Reading.
You will be able to log your reading online from anywhere! There will still be rewards and prizes for all age groups.
The main difference this year is that YOU can check in online!
How do I track my reading for the Winter Reading Program?
We have an app for that! Decatur Public Library will be using our digital tracking app Beanstack. It's your one stop for winter reading tracking. You'll be able to log and track your reading from your computer, tablet or phone through Android or iOS systems. (App does not work for Kindle Fire, but you can access the Beanstack site with the Fire browser). If you already created a Beanstack account for the Summer Reading Program, just log in and register for the current reading challenge!
Will there still be weekly prizes for Winter Reading Program?
Absolutely! Every time you hit a reading milestone you'll win a badge-a little digital fist bump to celebrate the quality time your brain and your books have been spending together. Sometimes those milestones will come with real, actual loot from your library-we'll let you know, so you can go in and claim your sweet reward.
Each week readers can earn a badge for logging in your reading for that week.
*YA and Adult have raffle tickets for the Grand Prizes.
How do I get my prizes?
We will hold on to your prizes until the library reopens to the public and you can come in to pick them up. The YA and Adult Grand prize drawings will occur after April 10th. Winners will be posted on the website and contacted directly.
How do I get books for Winter Reading?
We offer curbside pickup of library materials. Patrons can read any materials they have at home AND we have a large selection of digital resources available. You can check these out at Library on the Go or Hoopla. All you need is your library card number and pin.
We also have Digital Displays available in case you need recommendations.
If you don't recall your PIN or password (or have any other issue with your account), please email us at email@example.com, or send us a message via the library's Facebook page, or call during regular business hours 217-424-2900. Provide us with:
- your name
- your library card number
- the PIN you want
- a phone number (in case we need to follow up)
