Financial abuse of older Americans is a growing problem. Fraudsters are continuously coming up with new methods and schemes to target seniors. While statistics are mostly unknown, studies suggest that only 1 in 25 cases of elder financial abuse are ever reported. MetLife estimated that our seniors were taken for $2.9 billion last year alone. The issue is not bound by social or economic status, the wealthy and those struggling financially can both become victims.

Decatur Public Library is partnering with Town & Country Bank to help you understand how you, or someone you know, could become a target. They will discuss red flags that will help to identify possible fraud schemes or signs that someone you know is a victim. Join us to learn more about how to identify and prevent elder financial abuse.
