Books Between Bites
November 1, 2023
12:15pm - 1:15pm
Books Between Bites is not your standard book club!
A speaker comes in to present about a book or topic, from 12:15-1:15p the first Wednesday of the month.
Please join us on November 1, 2023, at 12:15 in the Decatur Public Library’s Madden Auditorium for our monthly Books Between Bites review.
Mel Weinstein is a retired chemist currently living in Decatur. During the course of his professional career, he taught chemistry at Richland Community College for 10 years, spent over 20 years as an analytical chemist in the research center of Tate & Lyle (formerly A.E. Staley Company), and studied food science at the graduate level at the University of Illinois (Urbana). For many years, he has had an interest in informing the public about industrial ingredients found in ultra-processed foods, as well as the relationship between a diet rich in those foods and adverse health outcomes. To further that cause, in 2016 he started a podcast called “Food Labels Revealed,” which eventually led to his investigation of ingredients in fast foods.
