William Ward
- Born in 1802 in South Carolina.
- Came to Macon County in 1824, and helped found the Ward Settlement in South Wheatland Township. This would later become the site of the Mueller Lodge.
- Married twice:
- Elizabeth Wheeler on December 9, 1830
- Sarah Ann Morris on December 7, 1841
- Fathered 9 children.
- Died on January 4, 1854, and was buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
