William Hanks, Jr.

Born January 19, 1796 in Hardin County, Kentucky.
Married Mary Quinn in 1825, and together they had 4 children.
Came to Decatur in 1829, and lived for a time at what is now 452 W. Main St.
Owned farmland in Spangler Heights, and had a home on the former campus of Lakeview High School.
Cousin of Abraham Lincoln
Cast first vote in the first courthouse on August 2, 1830.
Supervisor of Road District #1
Died on January 10, 1846, and was buried in Spangler Cemetery.
