DPL Parking Lot Re-Design Project

Begins Monday, August 5, 2019

Decatur Public Library is excited to announce that construction of our new parking lot by the City of Decatur began on Monday, August 5, 2019.

Parking at present is limited to the easternmost portion of the parking lot and a few spots, including handicapped spots, in the southwestern portion of the library lot, facing Main Street.

Additional FREE parking for library patrons is marked on both levels of the parking garage across from the library on Main and Franklin Streets.

Construction is expected to last until the end of November, but access to the new portion of the lot is expected to begin earlier. Decatur Public Library will not change its operating hours during construction. Pedestrian access is limited to the southern door of the building entrance and library patrons can access from Main Street or the southwestern portion of the parking lot.

The Big Blue Book Drop for returning items outside the library is presently located near the library entrance on the east side of the building.

Thank you for your patience as the city of Decatur works to improve and enhance our parking situation.

See the map below for details on access and parking.
