Book: Jewels and Jackboots: Hitler’s British Channel Islands

Author: John Nettles

Presenter: Nancy Peterson

About the Book: “The Channel Islands were the only part of Britain to be occupied in the war. The narrative unfolds through the words of those who actually endured those years. This is their story.” (Amazon.com)

About the Author: John Vivian Drummond Nettles was born in 1943 in St. Austell, Cornwall, England. He is widely recognized for his work as a detective in the crime drama series “Bergerac” (1981-1991) and as Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby in “Midsomer Murders” (1997-2011). His acting career began in 1969, and he has since become a prominent figure in British television. (Wikipedia)

About the Presenter: Nancy Peterson is a Decatur native. She retired from the Decatur Public Schools after thirty-plus years as a high school librarian. Fortunately, that did not sour her love of books and reading—and she still likes teenagers, too!

Books Between Bites is a free program at the Decatur Public Library, sponsored by Friends of the Decatur Public Library
