Summer Reading Program 2018

The 2018 Children’s Summer Reading Program,
Reading Takes You Everywhere,
was great fun for everyone!

We had 1,262 kids sign up to participate this summer, and 560 made it all the way to the 5th and final goal!

Besides reading or listening to LOTS of books, kids enjoyed story times, a brand new READiculous program, and an amazing science show with Nitro Joe!  Thanks to all our program sponsors, and especially all the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other grown-ups who brought kids to the library, read to them, and encouraged them to read.  Watch in the spring of 2019 for information about next Summer Reading Program.

Why should kids READ during the summer?

  • It’s FUN!
  • Kids can read what they WANT!
  • Kids can EXPLORE something new — a hobby, sport, craft, or facts they want to learn about.
  • Summer Reading helps prevent the “Summer Slide” — the tendency for kids to forget what they’ve learned and decline in reading level over summer vacation.
